Background
Currently I live with my wife Betsy and baby daughter Maxine in Brooklyn, NY. Betsy is a pediatric nurse practitioner, and Maxine just had her second birthday in August 2023. We are expecting baby #2 in October 2023.
In terms of upbringing, I grew up in a part of West County of St. Louis, MO called
Creve
Coeur, which is named after a tragic love story between a
French explorer and a Native American woman. My older
brother, Adam as well as my parents still live in STL although I have extended
family throughout the U.S. My brother Aaron is in Washington DC. Apart from studying abroad in Dublin,
Ireland at
Trinity College Dublin,
I lived in St. Louis my entire life until 2012. My cousin Peter and I are in
somewhat similar fields.
Hobbies
Outside of science, I play the violin, love coffee, and am very interested in swimming, olympic-style lifting, and music. One of my favorite films is Apocalypse Now, which is inspired by Joseph Conrad’s Heart of Darkness, and I have a strong preference for thought provoking film. On a lighter note, I regularly sketch pictures of Homer Simpson, and have a near encyclopedic knowledge of the Simpsons.
